THE WATCHTOWER'S COMMENTARY ON THE ENTIRE BIBLE
By Steven H Propp
This 1990 book is a revision of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's 1963 book, All Scripture is Inspired of God and Beneficial. They write in the introductory chapter, "After considering the 66 Bible books themselves, we devote some space to giving background information on the Bible. This includes studies on the geography of the Promised Land, the timing of events of the Bible, Bible translations, archaeological and other supporting evidences of the authenticity of the Bible, and proof of the Bible catalog... All of this is designed to heighten appreciation for the Bible as the most practical and beneficial book on earth today." (Pg. 12)
Here are some quotations from the book:
"There is no question as to who wrote Genesis. 'The book of the law of Moses' and similar references to the first five books of the Bible, of which Genesis is one, are to be found often from the time of Moses' successor, Joshua, onward." (Pg. 13)
"Also of real benefit to the student of the Scriptures is the study of patriarchal society that Genesis affords. Patriarchal society was a community form of family government that operated among God's people from Noah's day until the Law was given at Mount Sinai. Many of the details incorporated in the Law covenant were already being practiced in patriarchal society." (Pg. 13)
"(Deuteronomy) being the fifth roll, or volume, of the Pentateuch, the writer must have been the same as for the preceding four books, namely, Moses... The first person, referring to Moses, is used predominantly throughout. The closing verses were added after Moses' death, most likely by Joshua or by Eleazar the high priest." (Pg. 36)
"However, the strongest evidence for the authenticity of Second Samuel is to be found in the fulfilled prophecies, particularly those relating to the Kingdom covenant with David." (Pg. 59)
"Jehovah tolerates no disrespect for his official servants. When the delinquents mocked Elisha as the prophet of Jehovah, He brought swift recompense." (Pg. 74)
"Of course, there are those who want to say that the book of Esther is neither inspired nor beneficial but is simply a beautiful legend. They base their claim on the absence of God's name. While it is true that God is not directly mentioned, in the Hebrew text there appear to be four separate instances of an acrostic of the Tetragrammaton, the initial letters of four successive words, spelling out YHWH, or Jehovah." (Pg. 91)
"While the Gospel credited to Matthew does not name him as the writer, the overwhelming testimony of early church historians stamps him as such." (Pg. 176)
"As is shown by this letter (Philemon), Paul was not preaching a 'social gospel,' trying to do away with the existing system of things and its institutions, such as slavery. He did not arbitrarily set even Christians slaves free, but rather, he sent the runaway slave Onesimus... right back to his master Philemon." (Pg. 242)
"The internal evidence of the book (Hebrews) is all in support of Paul's authorship... the doctrine is typical of Paul, though the arguments are presented from a Jewish viewpoint... On this point (Adam) Clarke's Commentary, Volume 6, page 681, says concerning Hebrews, 'That it was written to Jews, naturally such, the whole structure of the epistle proves...'" (Pg. 243)
"We should place like store on the unity of the congregation today, even refusing fellowship or greetings to those who apostatize to another teaching beyond that received through the inspired Scriptures." (Pg. 260)
"...these two lines of evidence prove that Jesus was born in the autumn of 2 B.C.E., since Luke 3:23 shows that Jesus was about 30 years of age when he commenced his work.'" (Pg. 283)
"The restoration of Jehovah's worship in the autumn of 537 B.C.E. marked the end of a prophetic period. What period? It was the 'seventy years' during which the Promised Land 'must become a devastated place'..." (Pg. 285)
"What are the apocryphal books? These are the writings that some have included in certain Bibles but that have been rejected by others because they do not bear evidence of having been inspired by God... The term is applied to books which, while considered to be of some value for personal reading, lacked evidence of divine inspiration." (Pg. 301)
"Therefore, the Latinized form 'Jehovah' continues to be used because it has been in use for centuries and is the most commonly accepted English rendering of the Tetragrammaton..." (Pg. 327)

Please do NOT buy
By J. P. Vent
Please do not buy this gem. ask for it next time Jehovah's Witnesses call on you. This book is advanced but helps in developing a deep appreciation for the Bible. The last chapters are very scholarly in nature for those interested in knowing how the New World Translation came into being.
