Honestly as long as you do the assessments for every section you'll probably do just fine on the test

This helped a lot for taking the Ohio FE. Honestly as long as you do the assessments for every section you'll probably do just fine on the test, just work fully through all of those problems, and more importantly practice with an open pdf of the reference document you'll have to use on your computer as you work the problems. Knowing where to find equations is probably 80% of the difficulty because equations are scattered all over the place and the notation is weird and not consistent with what normal convention is. Just buy it, it's worth it to get it done right.

Great way to study. I loved being able to set a study schedule.

This review guide helped me immensely to study for the FE Mechanical Test. It helps you set up a study schedule depending on how much time there is until you have to take the test, and I think that was the biggest help for me. I hate studying, but with a set schedule, it was much easier.
I would also recommend buying Lindeburg's FE Mechanical Practice Problems. There are many practice problems in the Review Manual, but completing the additional practice problems will for sure make it hard to fail the test. Just make sure you can do the problems confidently while using the FE Reference Handbook.

Cons: Some of the practice problems seemed kind of out of left field, and I spent a lot of time trying to figure them out. But, the questions offered in the book are difficult on purpose to to help prepare you for the test. The test isn't nearly as difficult.

Thorough, but it includes material that isn't in the mechanical engineering FE?

I just spent the past 4 hours trying to wrap my head around a bunch of probability and statistics topics including: Hypothesis Testing, Confidence Levels, and Expected Values. There are several pages in this book covering those topics and a bunch of examples which is great except for one tiny problem... they wont' be in the Mechanical FE. I just found out that on the NCEES website, you can look up what topics your specific engineering discipline exam will be covering. The Probability and statistics portion for the mechanical is rather light and only includes distributions, regression and curve fitting. So what makes this book specific to the ME discipline? Also, the hypothesis portion of the book is dreadful and rushed and gives a rushed answer that reminds me of myself in Calculus when I knew the correct answer because my TI-89 spit out the right answer, but I looked like an idiot trying to explain how I got that answer. So I'll leave you with this bit of advice; make sure you don't split hairs trying to figure learn the stuff that won't be on the ME test. Be sure to go to the NCEES website and look for the mechanical specification details to see what is actually on the exam.

"The explanation of the OSI is difficult and this chapter does an excellent job of breaking it down and explaining how they relate with one another. Very accurate and had an excellent flow from one topic to another. Chapter 4 best chapter yet, it covered several very confusing topics, TCP/IP protocol stack and DNS/DHCP and described the processes in simple to understand terms and gave examples. I liked how the TCP/IP stack was linked to the OSI model and the explanation of IPv4 addressing and IPv6 addressing comparisons was excellent. The delivery of the material was excellent. It took a difficult topic that many students have problems with and simplified it to a degree but didn't lose the complexities of the information. I think that the Hands-On projects are valuable to all of the students and can be completed by those in class or via distance learning."

Tamara Dean has worked in the field of networking for nearly 20 years, most recently as a networking consultant, and before that, as the manager of Internet services and data center operations for a regional ISP. She has managed LANs at the University of Wisconsin and at a pharmaceutical firm, worked as a telecommunications analyst for the FCC, and cofounded a local radio station. This book arrived quickly and without incident and in the exact quality that was promised if not better. "Facetextbooks" said that the book had water damage and was a little roughed up but came it the online access card (which it did). There was barely any water damage to the book (see photos) and it was a little scuffed up but nothing very bad. This book could easily be in a library and not stand out at all. So "facetextbooks" is an awesome used book seller in my opinion and I will be using them in the future if I need any more textbooks. "Facetextbooks" easily gets 5 out of 5 stars I gave a 4 start review because on the books content.
-- The way this book is written is very strange and I don't like it. The author seems to over-elaborate on very simple things and then gloss over more complicated concepts requiring the reader to either accept a basic understanding or do their own research online about a topic. But I’m sure the book contains all the necessary information to pass the Network+ exam. But just passing the exam isn't good enough in my book I want to fully understand all concepts covered in this book without having to do extensive research on my end.

I hate this book

I..HATE...this book. The book physically is poorly made. I have ripped out at least 10 pages by accident, and one page just frigg'in fell out of the book as i was turning the page. Not only do i HATE this book for physical reasons, i HATE this book for content reasons. I constantly having to go to the web and get explanations of things that this book is suppose to do. So far in the book (9 chapters) this entire book is nothing more than a glorified, end of chapter, key terms. For someone who learns that way then this book is probably great, but for someone who learns by explanations and by doing, this book SUCKS. I HATE this book. I went and got another book by an author i like to help me pass this class and pass my certification exam.

The author looks at a lot of important, hot problems in machine learning, image processing, data analysis from a computational geometric point of view, with detailed theoretical analysis as well as practical applications. This book integrates the author's hard work and knowledge in his past 30 years of research in this field. Strongly recommend this book to professionals in this area.

About the Author
Christopher Decker is a Research Fellow specialising in Law and Economics at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Oxford University. Dr Decker's research interests include economic regulation, competition (antitrust) economics, industrial organization and law and economics. He has considerable practical experience of the application of economic regulation across a range of industries (energy, water, telecommunications, transport, financial services, environmental regulation and the regulation of the professions) and has acted as an advisor to competition authorities and regulators in a number of jurisdictions.

A new way to network

As someone who hates to "network," I found the advice in Click to be a godsend. Click completely changed the way I think about networking--instead of approaching someone with the mentality of "what can I get out of them," you learn to approach people with the mentality of "What can I give to them? How can I make this realtionship click?" As a result, networking goes from being a self-seeking exercise to a self-enhancing one. It's truly changed the way I think when I meet people for the first time--a must read.

Solid fundamentals

Fraser hits the high points: be nice to everyone; be positive; see the good in people and say it. His section on holding your tongue when provoked is excellent. He quotes Sartre to great effect: "Words are loaded pistols." And he has an interesting take on your network: if you are the smartest person in it, you are building it the wrong way. Good point.

Building upon the Golden Rule...

Click provides a common sense approach toward improving your relationships with clients, stakeholders, team members, folks in your network, as well as friends and family.

As the title suggests, the author provides ten "truths" for interacting and developing your relationships with others, and uses quotes and experiences from individuals as diverse as Gandhi and Reverend Wright to illustrate his points.

Initially, I thought this was a repackaging of the concept of the Golden Rule. It is, but it's much more than that. Click is a set of guidelines with helpful metaphors and truisms to help you relate more effectively and completely with others, and to feel good about doing it.

Several areas which made me think more deeply about interpersonal dynamics included:

- A section on pruning relationships that are not positive in an effective and nontoxic manner to focus renewed energy on more mutually beneficial relationships. While (hopefully) rare, these experiences can be unsettling, and the author's perspective was helpful to consider.

- Being open to everything and attached to nothing, which makes it easier to consider, appreciate, and support the contributions of others while strengthening the bonds of effective teams and connections.

- The concept of Trust First -- Distrust Must Be Earned, helps to set aside preconditioned notions to look at each new situation with a fresh and open perspective.

In my business endeavors, I'm building relationships with people who know that I represent a vendor and support its sales and delivery mission. Click has augmented my skills to help me more effectively explore approaches to interact with my connections in new ways for their benefit, which in turn I'm sure will come back to me in a positive way.

The message is genuine, helpful, and generates as many positive feelings in the practitioner as it does in the recipient. If you can get that from a book, it's worth it.
